Ability Prosthetics donates to Philipines

Ability Prosthetics is holding a limb drive throughout November.

The company, with an office in Spring Garden Township, has collected more than $500,000 worth of limbs to be distributed in the Philippines.

As part of November film screenings of “Rescue in the Philippines: Refuge from the Holocaust” at the United Nations and Capitol Hill, film producers at 3 Roads Communications partnered with Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics to collect and donate pre-owned prosthetics through Physicians for Peace.

Catastophic injuries predicted from Typhoon Haiyan will dramatically increase the need for the donated prosthetics.

The limb drive predates the typhoon, and is meant as a special “thank-you” to the people of the Philippines, who welcomed 1,300 European Jews fleeing Nazi Germany right before WWII.
