Rescue In The Philippines Now Available On Amazon Prime

Frederick, MD — Rescue in the Philippines, the
Oscar-qualified documentary that has been broadcast on Public TV and on CNN in the Philippines, is now available for viewing on Amazon Prime.

The film, produced by 3 Roads Communications of Frederick, MD – together with senior producers Barbara Sasser and Peggy Ellis – recounts the little-known story about five cigar maker brothers from Cincinnati, the Frieders, and their heroic rescue of 1300 Jews from pre-War Germany and Austria. The Frieders, along with Philippine President Manuel Quezon, U.S. High Commissioner Paul McNutt, and then- Colonel Dwight Eisenhower, hatched a plan over cigar smoking and poker games to provide a safe haven for the refugees by exploiting U.S. immigration laws for the Philippines.

Rescue in the Philippines has been broadcast more than 2000 times on public television in the United States, and on CNN in the Philippines. The film has also been screened at the United Nations, at Yad Vashem in Israel, and by Philippine President Aquino at Malacanang Palace in Manila. The film qualified for an Academy Award in 2014.

Rescue was lauded by the New York Times as “as heartbreaking as it is courageous.”

The Los Angeles Times called the film “gripping.”

Rescue has a perfect 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. It is narrated by Emmy-nominated actor Live Schreiber.

“We are thrilled that Rescue is now available to a worldwide audience through Amazon, ” said Barbara Sasser, President of Frieder Films and an Executive Producer of the film and granddaughter of one of the Frieder Brothers.

“At a time when the whole world seems like it’s in upheaval, it’s important for audiences to know that they have been, and always will be, people of courage who will stand up and do the right thing no matter the cost,” said Russ Hodge, another Executive Producer of the film.
